# The Prophesy of Chapters 49 and 92 in “101 Lessons from the Dugout”

April 9, 2026 2 min read

Our new book, “101 Lessons from the Dugout – What Baseball and Softball Can Teach Us About the Game of Life” has become a phenomenon, with appearances on Morning Joe, ESPN.com, NPR, MLB.com, and dozens of other broadcasts and podcasts. Amidst the fanfare and top-selling status on Amazon and in bookstores, something profound has been overlooked – the book has been able to foretell some really cool Major League Baseball events.

Chapter 49, for example, teaches kids that whether you’re playing shortstop (typically where the “best” players play or playing right field (where less talented fielders are often placed) doesn’t matter. Wherever you play, play your best. Beat expectations. As a right fielder, where your coaches and teammates may not expect much of you, there’s an opportunity to surprise everyone with your outstanding play. And then…

On April 4, 2026, Jo Adell put on a jaw-dropping defensive clinic in right field, turning what looked like sure home runs into outs – three separate times. With perfect reads off the bat, explosive jumps, and fearless timing at the wall, he showcased both athleticism and instinct, leaping to rob hitters and completely shift the momentum of the game. It wasn’t just highlight-reel material – it was a rare display of defensive dominance that left fans and teammates in disbelief. He beat expectations.

And then there’s Chapter 92 which teaches kids to clean up today’s messes, today. That includes the dugout where your game just ended, but also your desk at school and your work and play spaces at home. Don’t leave today’s mess for tomorrow – and that also includes situations in your life that feel unsettled and must be ultimately be addressed. Well…

After pitching a masterful complete game on the biggest stage, the 2025 World Series, Yoshinobu Yamamoto added another unforgettable moment – quietly returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers dugout to help clean up. He was noticed by only a single journalist, not performing for the mass media.  He wasn’t performing at all – he didn’t even know anyone saw him. Long after the spotlight had shifted, he was seen picking up cups and tidying the bench area, a simple but striking act that reflected humility, discipline, and deep respect for the team. It was a moment that resonated just as powerfully as his performance on the mound, revealing the character behind the brilliance.

There are 99 other “prophetic” chapters in our book. Hope you’ll check it out on Amazon or at your local bookstore.
